Ronaldinho Released And Now Under House Arrest In Paraguay

NSFW    ASUNCION, PARAGUAY — Ronaldinho has finally been released from a maximum-security prison and placed under house arrest in Paraguay.

The 40-year-old Brazilain icon and 2005 Ballon d'Or winner was arrested on the 6th of March after accusations of using a fake passport when trying to enter Paraguay along with his brother.

The BBC reported that the duo had previously been denied bail, but since posted $800,000 each and now must stay in a four-star hotel in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay.

In allowing the pair to leave prison, the judge claimed that the size of the bail paid was "significant" and would "guarantee they will not flee."

Ronaldinho, who was branded "stupid" by his lawyer, along with his brother both continue to deny any wrongdoing, simply stating that they didn't know the documents were fake.

The same lawyer called their imprisonment, "arbitrary, abusive and illegal."

The pair are now awaiting trial.
